Head bolt stud location

Post by rugb »

In the set of head bolt studs, I have 3 three different lengths. The 3-3/4 inch, middle length bolt seems to go where an ignition clamp is? Somewhere I read number 8 stud? Since I’ve had it apart awhile, could someone tell me where this stud goes?
29AA is what it is. Thanks

The slightly longer stud is between #3 & #4 in the center of the head. If you are wanting to use the clamp to hold the armored distributor cable in place
then use the longer stud. If you are not going to use the clamp get another of the short studs and use it there instead.
Using the longer stud without the clamp will make the stud stick out the top of the nut farther and not look as nice and you are assured the you will have enough threads to get good torque without the nut running out of threads.
