Hello. what does a wheelbase of 133 and 157 inches mean? what is the difference between them and what spare parts or units? AA 1930-31

A vehicle's wheelbase is the measurement from the center of the front wheels to the center of the rear wheels.

Ford offered a 131 and 1/2 inch wheelbase for the full production period. Starting mid 1930, Ford offered a 157-in wheelbase. There was also a 112 inch wheelbase which was a stand drive chassis starting in 1931.

The only difference was frame length and the coupling shaft was longer on 157”. I think front spring may have been heavier on 157” too if I remember correctly, and sometime later In production they went back to rigid front motor mount I believe.

The 1931 didn’t have a ridged front motor mount. I don’t think the axle was any different.

I didn’t think they made a tapered 157” WB.
But, here it is. It must not have had dual rear wheels.

June13, 1930 mention the long wheel base frame.

The long wheelbase came out in 1930. It had a tapered frame and had a solid front crossmember.

Drawing date is not production date. In May of 30 they were still producing the Early 1930 model that carried over the 1929 sheet metal and was only made with the 131 1/2" wheelbase. July 1930 started production of the 1931 models.
