Rear brake drums-removal

Got my first AA so new to this world. 29 stake bed single rear wheels.
Rear drum stuck hard even pulling with tractor left rear slides.
1. Are lug bolts swedged to drum like the A?
2. Are there any vendors selling new drums?

New to the AA so please excuse my ignorance

A 29 AA would have a worm drive rear axle. Wheel bolts are swedged to the drum /hub. New hubs and or drums are not being made for AA trucks.

Is yours the worm drive or the split case Timken rear end?

I thought the hub studs had nuts on the insides holding the studs on? I know the '31 front drums have nuts holding the studs on.

Hi Don.
If you haven't already back off the brake adjuster all the way. If that doesn't help you might consider removing the brake rods just to make sure they are not hanging up causing the problem.
If after that it still is not coming loose then try using a torch to heat the drum up to make it expand. Move the torch around and around and around... you get the idea of the circumference of the drum to expand it. A few whacks with a hand sledge during the process will help.

Can you rotate the drum? Is the hub broke loose from the axle?

Bevel gear or worm drive? I disassembled three bevel gear axles. A couple came off hard. You need a VERY stout puller and big hammer, lots of penetrating oil and perhaps a little heat from torch. On one I had to free up frozen brake adjusters with penetrating oil and torch to be able to back brakes off. Photo of puller set up I used. I made an adapter from a junk wheel center.
