Water Pump Rear Bushing Installation

When installing the rear bushing in the water pump is it necessary to line up the grease hole with the hole in the housing? There is a machined groove around the bushing that the grease can travel so maybe it does not make a difference if the holes are aligned or not. Any thoughts?
