well to test it to see if its even good take an ohm meter accross the 2 primary terminals(2 studs with nuts)

should be very low like 1-5 ohms

then measure from secondary(coil wire that goes to distributor cap) to either one of the primary terminals and that should be anywhere from 3,000 ohms to 8,000 ohms (alot higher, but not too high)

then measure each terminal to the case, it should read infinite, meanign theres no wires/terminals shorted to ground.

that generall tells if the coil is good

BUT under a load, heat, temperatures, stuff can change... 8)
