Does anyone have a picture of the bottom of the seat cushion for 31 closed cab AA? the directions with the upholstery kit say there is supposed to be a wood frame but I cant figure out how it should go .... That is: how thick should the wood be? does it follow the contour of the springs exactly? should the wood cover the whole bottom?
PUH LEEEEZE someone snap a pic!!!

Re: seat bottom upholstery
Robert Gray,
The photo is from my 1929 c-cab, i was told by 2 of my Model A mentors it is the same seat put in the regular closed cabs. For what it's worth?
file to big, will send to your e-mail, if i can find it.

Re: seat bottom upholstery
Here is one (poor) photograph of an original 82-B cab seat cushion upholstery. The picture looks like the same design as an original 82-A upholstery seat cushion I have.

Re: seat bottom upholstery
Thanks Neil and especially Sunny!! Sunny sent me the photos I really needed of how the wooden slats rimming the seat bottom are attached and arranged. I will resize Sonny's pics and post them for reference. This is the most helpful and on topic forum I have ever experienced.
Best regards..

Re: seat bottom upholstery
The original seat cushion for the 82-A closed cab and the 82-B closed cab do not have a wood frame. The seat cover has a bead sown around the bottom edge of the skirt. The bead is inserted into the channel around the bottom edge of the spring and the channel is crimped around the bead.
It is hard to uncrimp the channel. So, in times past, the normal method of installing a new cover was to just hog ring it to the bottom of the spring.

Re: seat bottom upholstery
Thanks Neil!!
Makes more sense to me now looking at the springs. I do see two pins on the front bottom of the springs that i think match two clips on the seat frame in the cab.
Unfortunately the truck is down in Oly and I am here on Whidbey so wont be able to check fit till i get down there.
thanks to all

Re: seat bottom upholstery
The extensions on the bottom of the spring fit on the outside edge of the tabs in the heal kick. This keeps the seat from moving side to side or forward.
