The tapered hole is for a spare tire carrier.

Yes on the right side spare wheel bracket (tapered hole). It would be of interest to know if the bracket is attached to the frame with bolts or rivets. Except for early versions, the standrive came with the wheel carrier on the right. There should be a welled right fender also.

Neil , when you say" except for the early version ", was there an earliar version than 31 ?
, so this being a 31 would have had a wheeled fender ? I don't see how with the way the front flares out wide for the body? any sorce for pics of a completeone ? The only pic I seen there was no spare tire carrier on the right side . Thanks for ANY input , Ray

A standrive was built to drive standing. Used as deilvery trucks in the city where the driver was in and out constantly as with milk trucks.

My understanding is that the standrive came with the right fender wheel carrier (like the postal AA chassis). But, I have seen pictures where the carrier is on the left and I am guessing that was only at the start of production. The attached picture was taken 8-31 and the right spare tire can be seen.

Went to The Henry Ford Research Library today and found a wealth of information today , The part that is solid brass on the tunnel is for a swivel seat , the spare tire carrier was on both sides depending on the body , I found several bodies all are very very similar but 1 type was on the right and the other is on the left , I was able to get a dozen +copies of photos (great pics )and the original 5 page sales booklet with the bare chassis pics , body measurements and more.... IT WAS A GOOD DAY !!!

Is there any chance that you would make copies of what you got for me (and hopefully inclued the identification of where they are at in the archive? If I do an article on the standrive someday, I will want to order some of the information to include in the article.
