Help with VIN # for Model A Truck

Post by brennan »

I am trying to identify year and model for a Model A stake truck. The number stamped on the engine block is : A4 492884. I am fairly certain the number is A4 rather than AA. Any insights?

A previous owner could have dropped an A (car or pickup) engine into your AA at some point during it's long life.

Engine number 4492884 is a March '31 engine assembly and would have been installed into a March, April, or May vehicle. Engine number 492884 is October 1928.

The original engine number was stamped on the frame when the engine was installed. So, that number will provide the year/month of the original engine assembly (which is close to the vehicle assembly date).

Post pictures of your truck and the year can most likely be identified (or provide information for additional questions).
