Spent several frustating hours Friday trying to remove my fuel gauge. Pure luck Friday night on line (Two Doors & Forty Horses site) found a great tip that worked!
First DISCONNECT BATTERY! Took a piece of stock and drilled 2 holes that match the upper instrument panel attachment holes. Found 2 longer screws (10/32) with same threads. Placed the removal tool on the 10 sided nut (handle down slighly left). Placed the piece of stock over the removal tool and and tighened it in place with the longer screws. Used a piece of pipe for more leverage on the removal tool handle and the nut moved 1". Had to repeat 6 times as the removal tool is thicker toward the handle and will bind on the stock.
Just noticed that Bratton's actually sells a gas guage wrench holder for $4.50.
