30 AA Project Pricing

Post by what the.... »

Usually I just jump right in on projects. But....... with something this old, the prices for tyres and radiator and etc.... What is a fair estimate, (yes, it does depends on condition) for a basic driver, not show, overhaul. I has been kept inside and very little rot. My wife says, please tell him no, but I've already given her my 57 Chevy hardtop. Every kid needs a truck, Right.

Fixing up an AA is not much different than fixing up a Model A commercial (like a pickup). It basically depends on how much work you can/will do (i.e. free labor) and how much you hire out or simply replace restorable parts with reproduction parts.

If you start with a good truck but it needs complete and can do most of the work your self, I would guess you would spend $8,000 to $10,000. If you hire everything done it will cost $25,000+.

My last engine (about 1 year ago) was $1800. You can get an upholstery and top kits from LeBaron Bonney (see http://www.lebaronbonney.com).

Does anyone else have any input?

I would agree with the $8,000-$10,000 number and that is with mostly free labor.
