Bob:

I don't see the rear backing-plate (holds brake shoes) in your photo. Is that what you need?

Drew,
What I really need is a bearing sleeve and 2 bearings, and a couple of usable brake shoes(with lining). I've got all the rest, it's just not in the picture.

Bob:

Sorry, can't help you. There are a lot of old rear axel assemblies out there. I'm sure someone will be able to assist you before long.

Good Luck!

I am confused by this bearing sleeve. Does it go in the hub or on the rear end housing? My 1930 races appear to be at one with the housing.

Hello Bobs_AA,
I should have a rear hub with the sleeve still installed. And I am sure I can also provide the grease seal retainer ring. But, I am in Colorado and shipping will be more than it is worth. And, removing the sleeve normally requires a puller (which I don't have). I could remove the drum since it is bolted on.

If you don't find a sleeve (or complete hub) close to you, then e-mail me.

Also, you should be able to use a single roller bearing (see attachment). The shorter bearing (which requires two per hub) did not start until April 1931. FYI - there is a pair of the short bearings on ebay (#400092270594) with 3 days left.

Hi
I have the left overs of a rear end which was used for parts. The ring gear unit is missing. Along with some brake parts. Do have the drums.
it is in Morristown, IN SE of Indianapolis. If you need it come and pick it up.
I will try and see what is left if you need more info by Tuesday.

Thanks for all your help and offers. I will ponder this a few days and try to decide what I'm going to do.

Chris,
In most cases it appears that the bearing sleeves(races) are part of the hub. They are a tight fit in most cases, held in place with one revit. In my case someone left the rivits out and the sleeves fit a bit looser now.

The bearing races on my axle housings were completely gone. Instead of being O shape they were D shape with the flat of the D on the bottom. So my only option was to locate good used housings.
