Re: Looking for skid strips for a 1929 platform bed
Starting mid 1928 the 88-A platform is the same body through February 1931 when it was replaced by a different design. The floor skid strips are the same for all 88-A platforms (even the early '28 platform - also an 88-A).

Are you selling your skid strips or looking for some to replace the 2 that were damaged? How much would you want for them if you are selling?
Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Re: Looking for skid strips for a 1929 platform bed
I would really like to trade them for the rear racks that I need. I have everything to complete my truck except the 4 rear racks for my bed. I will take some pics over the holidays and post to let you see what condition they are in. I normally like trade vs. sell but we may be able to work something out. I did order a full replacement set - I had to give them the exact locations for the holes. Not exactly like the originals but I am assembling a driver and not a show truck. Thanks

I have been looking for you for skid strips, no luck on my end. could you tell me what size carriage bolt are used on the skid strips. The size round washers are. Please and thank you.
The skid strips I found were from Midwest Early Ford (Email MidwestEFS@core.com or 1-800-543-5035 there location is Springfield, OH . There on page 164 in there parts book.
U-8312605-P (Plain Steel) 15.00 each.
U-8312605-SS (Polished Stainless) 22.00 each.
These are 10 foot long with no holes punch in them.
The bolts are 5/16 carriage style with full radius round heads 2" over all length and the washers are 1.5 dia. .140 thickness (10gage) 5/16 hole

Re: Looking for skid strips for a 1929 platform bed
For the 88-A platform (1927 through February 1931), the skid strip hardware is as follows:
5/16-18 x 2 (7/64 x 3/4 head) carriage bolt
5/16-18 (1/4 x 9/16) square nut (chamfered 1 side)
5/16 (3/32 x 23/32) lock washer
5/16 (3/32 x 1 x 1) square washer (1 corner curled)
The carriage bolt heads are unique and are not the modern day round head and they don't have any makings. The lock washer is unique in that the 23/32" outside diameter is large enough to give the square nut good support. The square washer (with curled corner) is like the A pickup square washer but is for a 5/16 bolt.
Attached is a drawing of the 89-A express setup which is the same as the 88-A.

Re: Looking for skid strips for a 1929 platform bed
I have a few strips punched for the early 31 and I think that Neil mentioned they should fit yours too. They have a profile like the one that Neil posted above. They are stainless steel though and obviously not exactly original in that respect. They look nice and don't rust or show scratches much on the top ridges. They are left over from ordering too many for the bed shown below. They are about 1/8" too long in the front and would need to be trimmed a little. They will be donated to a fellow AAer.

What I mean is that the 5 or 6 strips I have are free to any AA fellow that would like them. I can ship them but I'm not sure what the maximum package length UPS or other shippers accept. They are close to 9' long.

Wewodad,
I would pay the shipping and for your time to ship them if you are willing to send them UPS ground or the like - just let me know how much. My zip is 56001.
Thanks much,
Drew
