Hi, I am restoring my 29 AA, new to the game, but I have the shifter and the rod but no trigger. I am looking to purchase one, if I can't thean I will try to make my own. Does anyone have a good picture of one. Thanks

Not long ago, I had an extra tranny tip over. When it did, it broke the trigger. Dadgummit-all-to-heck! If nobody has an extra for you, you might try borrowing one. You could use it to make a casting, then pour a new one. Looks like it would be relatively easy to do. I remember doing stuff like that in metal-shop back in high school 40-some years ago. Just a thought.

Welcome, and here is a pic of the reverse lockout tab on the shifter, I will add this pic to my watch for list when looking thru the rusty piles at the swap meets, have seen requests for this part before.

Mac's reproduce part of the trigger in the AA part of there part book.

I have them for sale in NOS and I have the Pin and nut. $35 for the trigger and $10 for the pin & nut.

Photos of the trigger, & Trigger Bolt & Gear Shift Lever Latch that goes at the bottom of the shifter and is the lockout mechanism that prevents the transmission from being shifted into reverse accidentally, unless the trigger is lifted. The Latch is $30.00

Eric, Was the stamped steel trigger used before or after the cast one?

I don't know about the date that the stamped trigger went into production. Perhaps Neil can answer that. I know that I've seen the stamped trigger on many AA's, as well as the cast trigger, and both may have come from separate parts suppliers for Ford, but knowing if they were both used in production at the same time is for someone with documentation to reveal.

The Ford parts lists only have one of each of these parts listed (trigger and trigger screw). So, if the trigger screw is the same for the cast and stamped trigger, then they are basically the same part. My early '30 (February) AA has the cast trigger. I have a 9-9-30 shift tower with the stamp design (original - I don't know). So, my guess is that the cast design was first.

Maybe the engineering drawings would better define these two designs.
