1928/1929 long-running boards and splash aprons wanted easte

Post by Jared275 »

Hi all,
I am looking for long runningboards and splash aprons for a 1928-29. Would like a straight pair in good restorable/usable condition. Due to size, would need to these in the New England area because shipping would be high elsewhere. I also have a pair of 1928–29 short splash aprons and short runningboards in good usable condition that I would be willing to barter also. Please PM me with location and price.
Thanks,
Jared

FYI - It is the long aprons which are costly to ship. The long running boards do not exceed the 131" rule (length + girth). Chances of finding usable parts in any rust bucket area of the country is not good. You could consider trying to find the boards from anywhere and maybe buy the repro. aprons from a local vendor. Also, the repro. boards are the design 2 and don't have the Ford script (last time I checked).

You also need to decide if you want the 1928 thru early 1928 design boards or the early 1929 thru mid 1930 design boards (see attached).

These boards are usable on any 1928 thru mid 1930 AA. So, if you don't care which design you use, then that is not a problem.

Neil,
Thank you for the information on the long running boards. My trucks firewall was stamped September 1929 so it looks like I'll be looking for design number two. As you said finding good parts in the rust belt can be rather tough. I have little faith that it will actually find some in good condition but I wanted to throw it out there before widening my net. Do you know if the reproduce splash aprons are any different than the originals? Thanks again for your help, very much appreciated.
Regards,
Jared

Jared,
Unless there has been a chang, the repros. do not have an upset (like originals) where the apron bolts to the fender.

I have one long running board that I will sell. It does have a little twist in it that I could not get out. I welded shut all cracks and holes primed and painted it black with urethane one step paint. It is the early version style. I am asking $200.00 plus shipping. It located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Attached are some pictures.

Jared, I have a pretty nice pair of 28-29 long AA runningboards I would sell but I am in California. If you are interested I could give more specifics and send photos. Maybe the transport guy who posts here could move them at reasonable cost? I want $250 for the pair.
