You're absolutely correct about the rearend assembly being quite heavy and difficult to move. One does not necessarily need a winch. I've moved lots of extremely heavy items over the years with rather inexpensive, hand-operated come-alongs. In fact, I've got two rearend assemblies in my backyard that I used a come-along to move through my breezeway and into the backyard. I had to drive a metal stake deep into the soil, then attach the come-along to it. Next, I had to run the come-along's cable out as far as possible, then put a long chain onto it's hook. The other end of the chain was attached to the rearend assembly. Then, have at it! Got 'er done. Though, I must admit, power-operated winches would make the job easier.
