EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
I'm getting prices on running a batch of the rear fender brackets for 28-29 style express bodies. I'm checking if there is any interest from you guys and I'm trying to figure if it would be worth doing the project. I need to order about 30 of them before I can get a price break on quantity. If anybody has a interest in them, please leave me know. I'm not quite sure where the price may be yet. I do know it will be about ten weeks to have them made after I give them the go-ahead.

Re: EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
Keith,
I assume you are talking about the forged steel design and with the round bracket to body mounting holes. What process and material are you thinking about (sand casting or lost wax process - steel or other)?

Re: EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
Neil, my sample is the forged steel design with the round mounting holes. It would be a sand casted steel bracket from a plastic pattern. The pattern shop said this would be the best way to go because they would actually make the plastic pattern a little longer because of shrinkage when the metal cools. They said you could loose 1/4 inch for every 10-12 inches in length. If that happened the fender wouldn't fit the bracket right and the distance could change between the fender and the mounting holes. That is why they just didn't want to use the bracket itself as the pattern. Unfortunately the pattern is what costs the real money, but can be reused many times.

Re: EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
Keith,
Yes, the pattern will be costly in my experience. And, making the pattern a percentage larger is important for anything which needs to maintain correct dimensions (like the rear fender bracket). Will the brackets have the bolt holes machined in the final parts?
The 89-A floor tie straps which I had made up used the lost wax process which required a pattern used to make a mold. The mold was used to create wax replicates which then went to the foundry. The bolt holes in the straps were part of the mold and consequently the only machining required was the threaded ends.

Re: EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
If the express bed rear fender brackets and the stake bed rear fender brackets are the same, I would be interested depending on price.

I'm going to need some at some point, so I would be interested in getting a set now also if the price is not too expensive
