Wanted late good 30 early 31 Model AA transmission housing
I am looking for an uncracked 30 early 31 Model AA transmission housing. I have collected 3 AA transmissions and wouldn't it figure they are all cracked. Ideally I just need a good housing because I have plenty of parts. Thanks, Dan

What is the difference between an "early '31" AA transmission and a later one?

Just the stamped date. The engine is a early 31.

Where is the date located and how is it read? (I assume it has some sort of code)

Its on the left side towards the top. It states the month day and year (ie-9-21-31). Thank you all for your help! Dan

Re: Wanted late good 30 early 31 Model AA transmission housi
The 4-speed Warner transmissions have the part number and the casting date near the clutch/brake pedal shaft area. The assembly date is stamped into the top left rear corner of the case on the machined area where the top cover sets on. Sometimes it can be seen with even removing the top cover. The top cover plate has casting dates on it too. The 4-speed DG&M transmissions are a little harder to figure out. I've seen what look like casting dates in different spots and it seems like they have a letter and number type of code that I really haven't figured out yet. Some were cast in the case and some were stamped. The top of the machined area doesn't have the numbers stamped in like the Warner transmissions either.
