Dropping out of 4th.

Post by motorclubaa »

We are in UK with a '29 (we think) AA recovery truck.
This has for a while now been dropping out of 4th gear, usually at the most inconvenient time.
We have the top of the gearbox off and the shafts out and nothing looking obviously wrong. The suppliers here in UK only have bits for
the A box. We are suspecting the springs (one inch long) may have weakened and there are signs one of the balls is showing some wear. We can buy shafts but if they are for the A then they won't be suitable for the AA?? We bought springs but these were much too long and larger diameter, (for the A?).
Can anyone advise please if anything is available in the US (I have been through the Mack website).
