Sacramento is a different 'BEAR' I've been to the permit office regularly for over a year. In the building plans They want all receptacles and switches and lights drawed in the plans. Nothing I drew seemed to satisfy them. I needed to have an arqute draw my plans. Well, I ordered my building out of Tenn. Got free shipping and a 10 % discount and no taxes. I'm Planning on led lights for they are brighter and cheaper to operate. Just sent and O K to the company on my building plans. So hopefully things will start rolling. Yelp I still have to get my permit :D :) Shelby, Sacramento

Suggest "Going to Silent Running" when dealing with the permit process: they tend to get "Pissy" when they think you are either "mocking a sacred cow" or attempting an "end run on their "HOLY WRIT"(which most of them don't understand either, except that it is "HOLY WRIT" & must be followed to at least the 8th or 9th decimal place!!) You are on the right track with the "portable/non-permanent" structure, &, as long as they're not spiked down, you can connect a couple of your vertical supports across the floor with a couple of pieces of channel iron(suggest at least 8" or 10")to help with stability. Once the crushed rock is leveled, one can always lay down a "temporary floor" of 3/4" or 1" plywood so that wheeled tools will be able to roll without sinking into the crushed rock. AND, FOR THE INSPECTER'S BENEFIT : It's still TEMPORARY &/or PORTABLE. Of course , one can always either pour a driveway up to(but not touching) this temporary structure &, if questioned, can always claim it as "RV Parking". ALL OUTSIDE THE BOX & WITHIN THE RULES. AND PLEASE: KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!!!

I know it takes forever. I have my cabin all cleared out. The drywall contractor is there today. By next week I should be able to paint it. Then install kitchen cabinets, counter tops, and flooring. It will almost be a house.

Are you going to be painting in that shop??? 1/4 acre in a subdivision is going to be a problem. You better get proactive here and get to know your neighbors.

This picture is where I was 8-31-17 this morning Got all the base rail anchored to the slab and squared. Tomorrow I will take a picture of where I finished to day and starting tomorrow. Should have the side wall frame and rafters up by noon 9-1-17. Not bad for a 72 yr. ole by myself in this 100* plus weather :D :) Shelby, Sacramento
