I guess someone at sometime put the holes in the fenders. After 80 years most anything can happen. The fenders on the AA in the barn appear to have a straight inside edge. Not like the inside the edge of mine that drops in for bed clearance.
I bought those fenders at Hershey back in '04. They attracted a lot of attention getting wheeled around on my cart.
I have another set of the AA Flatbed fenders that have the straight inside edge that someone widened to fit over duals if anybody is interested.

No effect on the dump, as the carrier is mounted to the bed frame itself and tips with the rest of the bed. They were provided on the other beds as well and most of the flatbed fellows threw them off as they were "in the way". I took note of the spare tire carrier and wonder if the spare would be in the way of the operation of the dump bed?
Have fun.
