Great idea but I wouldn't want to go up a steep incline with that hanging off the back.
My father-in-law told me of traveling with his parents in our '29 Ford AA from Springfield, Minnesota to Illinois to pick up some kind of farm implement. He doesn't remember what it was that was strapped on the platform bed, but he sure remembers going up a particular hill on the way home and the front of the truck coming off the road. A local farmer was able to tow them up the rest of the way but they kept to the flatter roads the rest of the way home.
