What's amazing to me about alot of these period pics, are like this one I would think it is era 1938 39 the latest, making the truck no more than 7 or 8 years old. It looks a little more beat than by today's 7 or 8 year old cars and you wonder how they lasted as long as they have. I would be shocked if one could find a 2012 ford van 80 years from now in the shape we find our 80 year old iron in today.

Good point. I wonder if one of the reasons you see photos of such beat up vehicles that actually weren't very old is because the automobile industry at that time was only about 30 years old, and people bought these things to put them to work. They probably didn't even consider resale or trade in value, like a horse, when it was worn out, they would get another one!?
I agree, it's amazing these trucks have survived, very few lived pampered lives like an expensive touring car would have.
