Re: mechanical dumps topic again
I have a PTO driven mechanical dump. If I remember correctly, the primary gearbox casting says "Anthony". There are 8 or so huge gears under the bed. Two of the gears look like 4" solid brass/bronze! The others are 3" wide x 10" dia cast iron. I have included a link to some pics. It may not look like much but it is fairly complete. It is currently off being restored from the frame up.

Ford sold the Anthony mechanical power hoist dump. Page 493 of the Ford Service Bulletin (see below) shows some information.

Re: mechanical dumps topic again
Hello Dan,
The Ford supplied literture Form #C-12 (no date) "A Choice of Five Dump Bodies with the Ford 1 1/2 ton Chassis" devoted a page to the Anthony Rotary Power Hoist. A similiar brochure Form #C-12, but dated 3-25-31, shows the Detwiler mechanical powered hoist. The Body Parts List dated April 1, 1932 shows all the part numbers and some pictures of related parts. I have Anthony catalogs that also show all their dump mechanisms and different type of bodies available. I tried last night to attach copies but it didn't work. Better with trucks than computers. I'll have to try again.
The dump truck I restored has the Anthony Rotary Power Hoist on it. If you need help with anything for yours leave me know.
Keith

Re: mechanical dumps topic again
Thanks Neil, Keith and Johnnie NYY,
Keith , you pegged it with the Detwiler. My truck is a late March and that coincides with the date Ford stated using Detwiler, and is exactly like the drawing you posted to me. thanks again. Got it apart today . I need to get a main shaft machined going into the gear box. Was pleased to see that the worm is pressed on to a keyed shaft. will make that much easier to fabricate. Thanks again all. Dan Chalmers
