WTT for a 1930 or later AA
WTT for a 1930 or later AA
Hello all,
I've been looking for a Ford AA Stake bed. I'd like a 30-32.
I have plenty to trade (Firearms etc).
If anyone knows of any for sale, I'd appreciate any leads.
Frank

Hahahahaha!
Thank you for the sound advice, though I have quite a little collection.
I'm looking to trade off my WW2 German MG-34 semi auto build and a 1917 colt DA .45 revolver for an AA.
Thank you though! And thanks for the link!

What do you all think?
I don't think I want the tank on the back. I'd like to make it a stake bed.
I'd appreciate advice and input.

FrankD,
You don't indicate what condition AA that you are looking for? Where are you located? That could make a big difference in transportation costs.
Have you been watching AA's being auctioned on Ebay? That is a good source for seeing what is being offered/bid.
If you stick with a 1930 AA, then they used an 88-A platform. That platform is much easier to find if you happen to end up with a cab and chassis and need to find a platform (like $300 to $800 for the 88-A metal frame). Most platforms will not have the wood floor or it will need replacement.
The 82-A closed cab was used through June 1930. The 82-B cab was used starting June 1930.

Where are you? I want a tank Truck but I don't need another truck. Maybe you could acquire the tanker and make it into a flatbed, especially if the tank isn't original to that truck. then sell the tank. (or save it for your second AA, you know you can't have only one, RIGHT??? )

I've begun dialogue with the buyer! I may be the next owner! How much would you say I could resell the tank for? He explained that I could just unbolt it.
Thanks!

That truck has been run hard and put away wet. A lot of Michael Mouse things have been done to it. It is going to take a lot of work to make things right. No big things but lots of detail. Like the gasket between the steering column and mount. Putting the battery back under the truck where it belongs. Getting things painted so it looks clean. As is it is a rat truck.

I'm in Illinois west of Chicago. I was hoping to find some guidance as to how to construct a stakebed. Do I need the steel frame for a stakebed?

Frank,
Welcome to the forum. I think that considering what you want and the asking price, I would keep looking. If you search back a year or so on this forum you will see some good examples. Sometimes big iron doesn't sell fast, and trucks posted months ago may still be for sale.

If you want to stay original, then the platform for the 1930 AA would be the 88-A. The attached shows the metal frame (with wood sills) of this platform.
