Must be? No, well I guess it depends on the type of dump body you have. I believe you would have to cut the chassis with most dump bodies.

Don't take my word for it but I think you have to cut a foot off of the frame.

Depending on the type of body, different lengths of the frame must be cut off. The September 1930 Service Bulletins show the dealers to cut off 3 13/16" for mounting the heavy hydraulic body, 8" for the light hydraulic, 13 3/4" for rotating power hoist, 28"-25" (on a angle) for the gravity, and 15 1/2" on the fast hand hoist. These figures were for the specific brand and type of body shown in this bulletin. A different brand of body than what is shown may have required a different amount to be cut off. You also have to consider that the frame rail lengths changed according to a April 1931 Service Bulletin. The older frame rails were 171 5/6" long. The new rails (for the 131" wheelbase) were 169 13/16" for the short frame and 181 5/16" for the long frame (131" wheelbase).

Re: 1929 AA Dump trucks
I have a 31 with a Marion dump body that has been on the truck since it was new. The dump body does not contact the frame rails, and they have never been cut. As Keith says, it all depends on the dump body itself.

Always one bad decision away from a good time.

Re: 1929 AA Dump trucks
Thanks for the information. I'm hoping I don't have to cut my frame. I have a Gar Wood Dump bed so I guess I will find out when I go to put it on the truck.
