28 ccpu manual wiper to vaccuum wiper conversion

Post by birdacre »

has anyone ever done this. i like to have both hands on the wheel and not running a hand operated wiper. as for the routing of the lines.... on other models the steel vaccuum line goes under the garnish molding on the windshield pillar. this is the molding with the stud coming through it with the knurled knob to hold window open. there is not any room for even a small steel line as the corners of the molding are almost 90 degrees. any thoughts on running it up inside the door post??? any success stories or photos. thank you in advance, kevin

Page 370, August 1929, of the Service Bulletins show how to install a vacuum wiper in a Tudor.

i think the tudor has a different garnish molding. it is more of a curve versus 90 degree bends. it is the curved area that the small steel line is tucked in inside the molding. i do not have the service bulliten. if you could post it, that would be great. thank you for your help. kevin

My scanner is not working so I can't post a picture. The Service Bulletins shows hose running
from the firewall up the right pillar and across the top of windshield.

In my opinion - Anyone overhauling/restoring an A or AA should have a copy of the Ford Service Bulletins.

you have a good point. i thought they were more of a maintenance guide versus schematics and lots of diagrams. where would you think is best to order a set? hope all is well. kevin

I found a paperback version (8-1/2" x 11") at https://www.brattons.com/paperback-mode ... etins.html $22.50

I don't recommend "Model A Ford Service Bulletins Complete" with a yellow hard cover - too small to use.
