Speed and the AA

Post by 31 SWFL »

It has been some time since I have posted anything. But since 2014 and the economy coming back strong things are much better.UPDATED...after reworking the U-joint,Weber 3236 carb and rejetting it,1st gen lion 7:1 head, tach oh yes and A/C added to the 31 went out for a shake down ride AGAIN! WOW hit 65 mph @ 2600 rpm..will cruise 60mph with the A/C on. Now do I push it that fast all the time NO! Normally around town 50/55 is plenty. BUT if I need to jump a interstate for a bit i can.seen a post about the Mitchell overdrive/gear splitter is it worth it....YES but you have to build the engine accordingly and your brakes had better be spot on.

Yup and that’s why it was done. Because everyone said it would never happen. A lot of research and time to get where it is now. The beauty of it is it can go back to like everyone else in 2 weekends. The only thing that can’t go back are the 1.7 intake valves. The original stuff is all boxed up and labeled and if anything had to be cut, weld or overly modified it was done to repop pieces or totally machined new. So before you poo poo the truck think about what it would take and took and yes I do ALL of my own work machining included.thanks for your support

My 29 truck has high speed rear and Warford overdrive. I did a touring motor also with bigger intake valves, Snyder 6.1 head, and lightened flywheel (42 lbs). Everything else was left original. Best part is that everything looks stock. I expect around 50+ horse power. Should do 55 easy. My goal is to get it on the road by 4th of July. I will let you know how she does.

Not sure yet. My 4th of July goal is going to be hard to make. I rebuilt all brakes with new linings all the way around. I need to pull rear hubs back off yo install some shims on axle. Currently the end of the ankle sticks out to far to let hub caps go on. I will be working on express bed over next week before I can get back to finishing the wiring. I will let you know how it stops.

Sorry for not responding sooner had to take a week and meet the brand new grand daughter. As far as it stopping not bad about the same as the F 350.it takes around 3/4’s of a mile to get there.1.7 intakes ,1st gen lions head 7:1 ,Weber 32/36,stipe 330cam,bronze cam gear,FSI ignition kit, balanced to 1/2 gram rotating assembly, head CC’d to exactly 121 cc’s,Mitchell overdrive 26%,modern u-joint(kinda)Counter balanced crank,Bmodel flywheel and a lot of talking and meeting people that race these engines. Remember friction and vibration rob’s power.now to figure out the picture thing...
