King pins
When installing new bushings and kingpins in an AA what size reamer should be used on the bushings? The A calls for .812 but aren't the AA pins larger than the A?

Re: King pins
I would start by measuring both pins top and bottom. They may be slightly different from one another. That would give you an idea of where abouts it should be. My guess is the bushing gets reamed .001-.002 larger than the pin. I am not a machinist so I suggest you get with someone more expertified.

Re: King pins
Does anyone have actual reamer size for 30-31 aa truck. There are several on eBay that reference -
986 Pilot
1.006 Cut
1.003 Relief
11.75 long to square tip.

Re: King pins
I would take them to a machine shop and have them done on a Sunnen Hone.

Re: King pins
Yup! 1.004" pin + .002" clearance = 1.006" reamer.. There you figured it out!!

Thanks
Re: King pins
28-29 AA had a front axle similar to the A, the difference would be the spindle and hub, the king pins were .812 up to oct. 1929, after that the front axle on the AA was heavier with bigger king pins, spindle and hubs. I would want only .001 clearance on king pin to bushing. If your on a budget, I would use a flap wheel on a drill.
