Very old oil transport tanks FREE

Post by ModelAkid »

I have these 2 very old oil transport tanks that I was going to use on my AA, but I no longer have that truck. On the cap is stamped "Union Oil Co". Union Oil was founded near here in CA in 1890, so I think these tanks are very old. I tried to sell them for scrap iron value, but no takers, SO, I'm going to give them away to any AA Forum member for free because I really think it would be a shame to haul them to the scrap yard. See my previous ad posted on Dec. 27 for details and a photo.

Re: shipping: All I can do is load them on whatever transport you provide. Just so you know: they are quite heavy.

They were oil transport tanks used on any old truck. Actually one is being donated to the Santa Paula Oil Museum, where Union Oil Co. started. But the larger one is still available if you want it. They are not that big, I'll measure the one still available and post the dimensions here later today.

The size of the remaining tank is 78" long, 38" wide, 36" tall. That does not include the drain valve on one end, and the dome on top. So it will fit easily in a full size pickup, and at 6' 6" long it would probably fit sideways on a flatbed truck.

Update: Looks like both tanks will find new homes where they will be appreciated.
