Re: 1931 82-B Closed Cab (Steel Top)

The recessed left door was standard for the 199-A Ice truck and 229-A Service car. It was special equipment when tires larger than 6:00x20 were ordered for dump, coal, and garbage bodies. This door was used in conjunction with the left front fender AA wheel carrier.

Looks like the old writing on the door is "Ford - Mercury - Lincoln Zephyr". Did a dealer use this truck, after 1939? (when Mercury was introduced).

I don't have any information regarding the dealer. The cab was for a late 1931 Service Car.

Well then, a Service Car (truck) would be perfect for a dealer. May have owned it from new then added "Mercury" and "Zephyr" when they were introduced. This would be much more interesting if the Service Car body was still with it.

I just realized this is the original cab that was on the 229A service car that was (also) in La Verne CA. Guess the guy restoring it found a better cab to use.

FYI - Yes, originally there was a complete Service Car with a 229-A service body. The project was mostly restored using a different cab before the owner passed. The restoration project was sold a few weeks ago. The original cab is now being sold.
