Rivet Pattern for a Jan 1931

Post by dlevy »

Hi,
I am working on repairing my 88-A frame from my Jan 1931 truck.

I need to replace many rivets and wanted to know if anyone could tell me if the rivets were originally the waffle patter or domed on the side that gets finished.

I was going to buy this tool, but I am not sure if it is correct for a 1931 truck.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, The rivets were waffle pattern, flat-countersunk, or domed depending on the various locations. Examples - the three rivets connecting a cross member to the side were waffle finished. Rear cross member are domed finished. I assume the rivets on your platform are too far gone to tell the finish.
