1931 AA Chassis and Suspension Paint Colors Questions

Post by dlevy »

Hi All,

Just a quick question on the correct black for the chassis and suspension parts on a 1931 AA.

According the Model A Paint and Finish Guide and the Judging Standards, I am interpreting that the colors should be:

Satin Black
- Chassis/frame and all riveted on parts
- Front and rear springs

Semi-gloss black:
- Drag link
- Spindles, Spindle arms, Spindle bolts
- Spring perches
- Spindle connecting rod and ends (tie rod and tie rod ends)
- Universal joint cover

Gloss black:
- Front bumper arms
- Front fender support brackets
- Spring clips for front and rear springs
- Pitman arm

What color should the following be:
- Steering box and shaft
- Brake drums

Thanks as always for your help!

Regards,
Dave
