Hi All,
Was reading some threads on another site and there seems to be mixed users of cornhead grease vs. today's lubricants in the u-joints.
What are you guys using?
Seems like current lubricants would be superior, but I understand the need for the grease to become semi-fluid to actually get into the bushings of the u-joint.

What is considered the "correct new stuff"?

Hi All,
Any feedback on u-joint grease? I am sure everyone greases their AA's!
Looking for the guidance of those more experienced than I am as I learn more about my AA.
Thanks,
Dave

Just about any "new" grease will do the job. I use the red stuff. Sticks well. When i run out of that I just grab the green stuff. They all will work..

I use what they refer as cornhead grease in my steering boxes. Works well in them. Doesn't leak out like regular gear oil. Ford did recommend its' use in steering boxes a little later than the Model A period. Tractor Supply sells it. Probably won't hurt in the driveline once in a while to loosen the old stiff grease up, but if I'd have the driveline apart, I'd pack the joints with a good grease.

Re: U-Joint Grease: Cornhead or Today's Standards
The July/August issue of Model A News includes information about some grease John Deere has developed for it's corn head gear boxes. "It is a NLGI grade 0 extra soft lubrication grease. It's properties allow it to be fluid while in contact with moving parts (like gear oil) and thicken a little when not in contact. this means that this grease will not leak out of places that normal gear oil would."
