1929 AA truck parts
I am located in Southern Ca. I have a really nice front set of screw on hub caps for a 29 aa and also have the original locking brackets for the wood on the stake beds.(new old stock)

Post a picture of the hub caps. They are likely '30/'31 caps if they screw onto the hubs. The '29 caps are very different. If you can't post a picture, then send via e-mail to me (see below).

When you say you have the locking brackets are you referring to these in this picture, if so do you have the corner pieces?

Re: 1929 AA truck parts
The rack connections shown in the picture above are modern day connections which one can buy at many hardware stores. They work the same as the originals. And with several hours of grinding, they can be modified to be almost exactly the same as the original AA connections.

Re: 1929 AA truck parts
Thank you Neil,
You can definitely see the difference in the original rack connections and the need for a lot of grinding, I am happy he didn’t respond to my post as I most likely would have bought them not knowing.
I want to add stake sides to our 29, and the original connections most probably being as hard to find as the stakes, I want to build them as original looking as possible, so this maybe the way to go, what hardware stores would have them?.
Thanks again Brian T.

Re: 1929 AA truck parts
so whats the cost of the hardware store brackets? he didnt ask for much per unit but i dont like the misrepresentation of being original. This hobbie is like a poker match , you really need to know whats in the deck and how the cards are being played. i paid 9.50 each for the flats 3sets and 10.00 each for the corners 4 sets....keep on trucking.

Re: 1929 AA truck parts
It is possible that the seller does not know the difference? I found them at a local hardware store (five years ago) and they were close to $5 each. Below is where I bought a set from (about $20) and then spend hours grinding to match originals. The three holes are not an exact match and I didn't change them. Note that the prices listed are 12/07. If someone contacts them and gets current prices, post the information please.

Re: 1929 AA truck parts
I checked 3 stores and they can be had for between $36 and $40 + shipping to do a complete stake rack, 2 corner sets and 2 side sets, (4 parts to a set).
